Here's the fam!

Fun Fun Fun

Last week we went to the park, and I didn't take the camera but wished I had about 50 times. Keith slept most of the time we were there but Isabelle had a blast. She has been asking to go back several times a day since. We will go tomorrow. The only thing that compared was yesterday when David took her on an 'adventure' to go see lambs in a field not far from here. Now she has been asking to go on another 'adventure'.

The park has three slides. The little one that you would imagine a kid her age could do alone. Then the middle sized one, and the big twisty slide. She went down the little one once, I think. Wasn't too impressed. The middle sized one she liked, and could do alone without too much help. When she asked for the big twisty one, I went down with her. The first time. I made the mistake of commenting that "Ugh, Mommy is too big for slides" as I struggled to crouch low enough and put her on my lap. The next time I lifted her up to the platform below the stairs going up to the slide and before I could climb up myself she was off. I was starting up the stairs as she was going down saying "Mommy to big for slide. Bella go self".

The distance between the the bottom of the slide and the ground about at her chin. You can imagine my panic as she went sailing down the big twisty slide with no one to catch her at the bottom--and here I am on the stairs--too far away to catch her from going down or get to the bottom in time.
Luckily she doesn't weigh enough to get enough momentum going to propel her off the end, but rather she came to a nice stop right at the bottom. WHEW! After jumping down--too high up just to climb, it required a jump--she wanted to go again. The big twisty slide that I probably liked in fourth grade was her favorite. Again, again, again and again.

The next day Belle determined she was going to go to the park by herself. She asked me to help her put her jacket on and open the door. Yeah, right. If you're too little to reach the door knob I think you might want to re-think this idea of going to the park by yourself. Fine. go down the big twisty slide by yourself. But I don't care how independent you think you are--you're NOT going out the door without some help!

We have also been playing in the sandbox and I did take some pictures.

you know...

You know you either a) have a super cute daughter or b) live in a small town when random florist worker at the local grocery store approaches your husband and daughter in the produce section and says "Hi Bella! Would you like a balloon?"

Bella's answer? "PINK!!". Too bad they were out of pink. She ended up with purple with a pink ribbon.

He laughs!!

Keith laughed his first all-out, out-loud, supper cute, chubby cheek rolling laugh today!

Yesterday Belle decided he would look great poka-dotted.

He LOVED this balloon. I guess we need two balloons when we go the grocery store now.

Belle asked to have a party. We played ring-around-the-rosies, and we made 'party cake' like the 'hero party' on Winnie-the-Pooh. Sprinkles and everything. I think, however, that this was her favorite part of the party:

Quote of the day: "See you later, Lizzy" as Belle shuts the shower door on herself in the bathtub.

Remembering Spring

I'm trying to remember that it really is spring even though it is snowy and cold. So here's a few pics I took when it felt like spring (last week).

The Kids and I spent Easter in Marion. David spent it in California. So here's the kids dressed up for Easter.

By the time we got to the group pic Belle was done. I'm sharing it anyway.=).

Happy Spring!!

Important discoveries

At the risk of this post sounding very similar to the one last week, each of us has had an important discovery this week.

Keith's: His hands. He spent at least an hour yesterday staring at his fist. He was fascinated. He has also been "swatting" at toys held out in front of him.

Belle's: Hers can only be demonstrated by the use of a direct quote "Mommy! Look! Dirt!!" and she holds up a dirt clod like it was gold. This while in the garden planting peas. She was similarly fascinated.

David's:Commuting to Fresno stinks during spring break. Two days off in a week is not enough.

Mine: I finally figured out how to make a good chicken parm. I've been working on this for years. I don't like all those three-hour pound-out-the-chicken recipes. So I've slowly developed my own.
