Happy Birthday Buggie!!!

What a sweet three year old we have. He kept saying "Thank You, guys" SO sincerley. He was a little disappointed the snow prevented most the people he had invited from being able to come, but in the end he was fine and happy that Grandma and Grandpa O. were there.

And Look! I did it! Made the train cake that David had for his 3rd birthday. Not without a late-night call to his mother for some guidance---but, it worked! And he liked it.

He received a shovel he has carried around constantly--not really the best of carry around toys, but the boy has been carrying around shovels since before his 1st birthday so we put up with it.

He also got a new-in-the-box 1989 Ertl die-cast John Deere Combine. What a find (thanks ebay). The Ertl John Deere stuff these days is all plastic, bleach. But this one is just like the ones David and his brothers had. Which David was happy about, and so is Keith. He loves it.

Keith's Birthday outing

Keith picked the Children's Museum for his birthday outing. Well, it was his second choice. Hie first choice was to go see the sharks at Sea World. Since the passes we had last year expired, I told him it was too far away. He calmly replied we could go on a zoom to get there. To these kids flying somewhere is as normal as jumping in the car, I guess. Anyway, we got him to pick a second choice. He loves the ball games they have in there. And Belle likes it, too. They had a fun time and even had surprise appearance by Daddy, who we thought we wouldn't see for nearly 48 more hours!

Personal Progress

Ok all you Women and Mothers out there--
I am working on my YW Personal Progress. I am supposed to discuss with other women the qualities needed to teach children to have faith and base their decisions on that faith.
I think first and foremost in teaching children to have faith that the mother must have a demonstrate her faith in the Lord, so children can see how faith = action & power. I mean-Faith requires action. DO something about it. And that creates power in you life.
They need to know what to have faith in. Faith in our Savior, faith in prayer, faith in the principles of the gospel and by following them your life will be blessed.
Pray with and having the children pray. Having children pay tithing I believe is important, teaches them to demonstrate faith. They need to know how to recognize the promptings of the spirit (although I think I sometimes still struggle with this) so that they can act in faith on promptings they receive.

So...ladies...thoughts? You can comment here or send me an email with your thoughts.
Thanks!

Going to work with Daddy

For several months (like 5) we have been trying to find a good time to take the kids on a trip with David. Every time we have planned to go something has happened and it has fallen through. Every time David leaves for a trip Keith cries "Daddy, I want to go!" Finally we made it, and had a great time. We went to Casper, WY. They got to sit in the cockpit and listen to David make the announcements. They were thrilled. Then we swam in the pool at the hotel, had some dinner, and went to bed. Up at 4am for our 6am flight back, then we went to our favorite breakfast place (shout out to Blue Plate Diner!) before taking David back to the airport to finish his trip (which consisted of Elko and back). It was a day to remember for sure! And we hope to be able to go again!

I love their little roller boards. They loved matching Daddy with them. A great Christmas present from Nana and Pa Pa!:)

Keith has graduated...

from the toddler bed! We found him a nice full bed for a good deal.
This means two main things (besides that he fits in his bed better)

1--no more pink and purple butterfly sheets. When he was born and we switched all the baby stuff from pink to blue somehow the sheets got missed. And I never bought any new ones. So for his entire life (nearly 3 yrs) he has been sleeping on pink butterfly sheets. I don't think he'll be permanently scared, but it gave me great satisfaction to take him to Target and let him pick some sheets he likes. He picked blue.

2--no more reading bedtime stories on the floor. Since we moved in to this house a year and a half ago every night for bedtime we have piled blankets and pillows on the floor in his room and read stories, sang songs, til the kids go to sleep. Then we have moved them to their beds. Belle's bed wasn't big enough to do this together, and we do bedtime both together since I still lay by them to go to sleep. And we didn't want to do it in our bed, thinking then they would just stay there. So we got Keith a full and we can lie there and read stories, etc. then the kids go to sleep and we leave them both there. I think Belle has slept in her own bed one or two nights since we got Keith's bed a week ago.

So hooray! to improvements!
Fun times in Marion! One of the kid's favorite things to do is go out with PaPa. they don't care how cold it is!
